How We Pick Deals

Every deal on BargainArmy gets one of three verdicts. Here’s what goes into it.

What we check

  1. The real price. We compare the deal with the prices we’ve recorded for the same model number over time. A big “was” price on the retailer’s page doesn’t count for much if the tool sells at the “sale” price most of the year.
  2. What’s actually in the box. Bare tool, or kit with batteries and charger? Battery capacity (Ah) and count change the value a lot, and holiday “special buy” kits sometimes ship with smaller batteries than the regular kit.
  3. Battery platform. We note which platform a tool belongs to (for example Milwaukee M18, DeWalt 20V MAX or Ryobi ONE+), because a bare tool is only a deal if you have the batteries.
  4. Condition and seller. New, factory-reconditioned, open-box or used? On marketplaces, is it sold by the retailer or a third party? Reconditioned tools need to be priced well below new to earn a good verdict.
  5. Coupons, bundles and shipping. We include codes and promo conditions when we know them, and flag in-store-only or limited-quantity offers.

The verdicts

  • Buy: at or near the best price we’ve seen for that model, or a bundle worth clearly more than it costs. Hard to beat soon.
  • Decent: a fair price. Fine if you need it now, but it’s been this low before, or will likely be again.
  • Skip: a weak discount, an inflated “original” price, or poor value for the condition. We still list some Skips so you know not to chase them.

Where deals come from

We watch retailer sales, price drops and promotions across major and specialist stores. Every deal links straight to the retailer, and the price you see at checkout is what counts. Prices and stock change quickly.

Expiry and corrections

Deals are marked expired after about ten days and removed after that, so you don’t land on stale prices. If something is wrong, tell us at [email protected].
